The Li & Fung Institute of Supply Chain Management & Logistics is established with a generous donation from the Li & Fung Group. The Institute brings researchers from different faculties specializing in supply chain management (SCM) and logistics to study specific areas and to create synergy through research collaboration. The institute consolidates together a center, the Center of Supply Chain Management and Logistics from The Faculty of Business Administration and two centers, namely the Center for Logistics Technologies and Supply Chain Optimization, and the Research and Development Center for Supply Chain and Logistics Management from the Faculty of Engineering. The institute's missions are to conduct academic and applied research in SCM and logistics, to facilitate the advancement of technological know-how for SCM theory and the logistics industry, and to promote knowledge transfer between academia and industry. Special emphasis is placed on bridging the gap between the academic knowledge and industrial problem solving.

We are committed to bringing superiority to the local and regional logistics industry and supply chain management, versatility to logistics and supply chain services providers, and adaptability and sustainability to professional staff to enable the business community to stay agile in the Web-enabled, efficiency-driven, and highly competitive business world.

The Institute aims to become a world-recognized leader in logistics and supply chain management research, and will be a key driving force in the regional development of logistics services and supply chain management in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) to ensure that these regions stay competitive and prosperous. We will continue to strengthen our cooperation and collaboration with industry leaders to spearhead forward-looking best practices, and to set examples for others to follow. Finally, the Institute will develop first-class training and executive programs for both the future and existing professionals. For the small and medium enterprises, we would help them to be equipped with the appropriate IT tools in order to participate in logistics e-Business.
